Appleton in Bloom has entered the Villages section of the Yorkshire in Bloom competition since 1993, steadily increasing its position in the rankings and being the winner of the Spring and Summer salvers, the Yorkshire in Bloom Winner’s Shield and the Yorkshire Water Environmental Trophy in 2003.

The village was first invited to represent Yorkshire & Humberside in the national Britain in Bloom competition in 2002 and gained a Silver Award from the organisers, the Royal Horticultural Society.

We have been invited to represent the region gain in 2004 and hope to at least go one better and get a Silver Gilt, but hopefully, and with the full support of the community, to GO FOR GOLD.
