Environmental issues and Local Agenda
21 feature strongly within the Appleton in Bloom Group and there are a
initiatives ongoing in the village including the development of a Wildflower
Area and Riverside Walk (our most ambitious project yet), bringing the
School Pond back to life, a “Living Churchyard” project, promotion of recycling,
home composting and water conservation and the installation of bird and
bat boxes and insect nests. The Group are also integrating with the Hambleton
Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) and hope to plant a native Black Poplar
in Spring 2005.
