| COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT |

The key to Appleton in Bloom’s success has always been the involvement of the village. The villagers are kept informed through regular newsletters, which appear monthly during the summer. For the first time this year, the Group has also produced a newsletter aimed specifically at children with “How to build your own lacewing nest” and an Appleton in Bloom word search. The village Primary School has always been involved in Appleton in Bloom and this year they have held a competition to design the front page of the Britain in Bloom Portfolio. The winning entry was by xxxxxx.
The Appleton Wiske Cub Group are undertaking
a survey of all the trees in public areas of the village this year under
Neal’s guidance.
The Sundial Singers gave a “Blossom &
Beatles” concert in St Mary’s Church in early summer and donated the proceeds
to Appleton in Bloom.
We seem to be getting more and more people
to help every year and these range from the very young to our oldest resident
William Atkinson.
All this and more demonstrates that Appleton
in Bloom is succeeding in engaging the interest and support of the whole
community.
