CHILDREN FROM BELARUS
On Thursday 4th July 2019, we welcomed a group of children from Belarus to our school. They had a fabulous time with our Year 5 and 6 children, taking part in lots of fun activities. A big thank you to Mrs Gudger for running the event . Our pupils were outstanding throughout and enjoyed the experience.
WILDLIFE AREA GRAND OPENING, SPORTS DAY AND SUMMER FAIR on Thursday 27th June 2019
Many thanks for the support last Thursday. Our Wildlife Area is now officially open and I would just like to thank all of our volunteers again for everything they have done for our school. Our Sports Day went well and the children were in fine form, supporting each other and competing for their teams – congratulations to the Yellow Team for winning the cup! Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends who helped to bring the chairs back into school – this was very much appreciated by all the staff. Finally, a massive thank you to our Year 5/6 pupils and the Friends of the School for putting on a great Summer Fair. We raised £420 which is a fantastic amount and will be put to good use.

We organise and hold social events / talks / concerts etc. that will hopefully be of interest to a wide audience in Appleton Wiske and beyond.
Our next meeting is on the 14th August in the Village Hall Annex and is a talk by David Cundall about First Responders
New members and guests are always welcome for further details please contact Angela Carlin on 01609 881817 or Michelle Street on 01609 881422.

Pavement Parking has been a problem in the village for some time.
Causing an obstruction on the pavement can make it impossible for invalid vehicles, pushchairs and children walking to and from school to avoid having to walk on the road. It has recently been reported that tickets have been issued for vehicles obstructing the pavement in Great Smeaton, a situation which could also arise in Appleton Wiske.
Please avoid parking vehicles on the pavement and allow pedestrians and others to pass easily and potentially avoid having to pay a fine for having created a problem for other residents.
TheMethodist Chapel Praying in Colour will be held on Sunday 2nd July from 10.30am – 11.30am at Appleton Wiske CP School.
We will be using the action of drawing and colouring as a way of becoming still on the inside, and for experiencing and expressing God’s loving presence. All are welcome to attend. Continue reading “Praying in Colour – 2nd July”
