Meserani Project

Our annual African Jewellery & Handicrafts Sale.

A superb opportunity to buy unusual and unique Christmas presents!

Our fourteenth annual African Handicrafts & Jewellery Sale was due to take place in November, but was cancelled due to government restrictions. Many people have asked us if there is another way of buying their much-needed ‘unusual and interesting’ Christmas Gifts this year, so we have decided to offer them for sale in a Covid-Safe environment, and within government regulations. As from now, people living in a Tier 2 area will be able to order items, using our website to see what is available, and then collect them from our home – we will arrange for you to collect them from our front doorstep or our garage.

Payments can be made by bank transfer into the charity bank account, by cash, or by cheque.

Please take time to browse through what is available, as shown on the website, and then place your order by:

Dropping a note through our letter box (please include your telephone number),or e-mail your order to us at

We will then put your order together and contact you to arrange a time for you to collect it.

We have too much stock to be able to show everything on this website, so if there is anything specifically that you wanted, but can’t see it on the website, please get in touch.

Village Library

A  good team effort has produced a temporary library  in the Bus Shelter.

Especial thanks to Angela Sellars for sorting the books and stocking the shelves.

Please use the facility but please do bear in mind that it should not become a dump for books that should really be recycled!

Its success will depend upon us all playing our part and respecting the very simple instructions displayed on site.

We hope to make it a permanent feature. The only stipulation from Broadacres, who own the Bus Shelter, is that we will have to dismantle it if the Bus Service is restored. As it is over 30 years since we had the last bus I think it will be safe.

There is a wide cross section, including children’s books and puzzles etc, on offer.

Appleton Wiske Scarecrow Festival

Welcome to the Appleton Wiske Scarecrow Festival history. The Scarecrow Festival will not take place in 2019. Further year’s festivals will be reviewed for 2020.. The response form provides an update on potential alternative events and the opportunity to make alternative suggestions.

2020 Vision Response Form

The events have been a great day out for all the family when they can saunter around the village to see all the Scarecrows and all the exciting stalls. Continue reading “Appleton Wiske Scarecrow Festival”
